Employee development has always been at the fore-front of Pitcher & Piano’s agenda. We have a structured training and development programme known as the Academy open to the most ambitious and best of our management.
The Academy, established in 1994, was conceived to support and facilitate ambitious bar managers in their journey up the career ladder, instilling along the way the transferable management skills needed for successful career in this industry and others. The Academy has always been an industry leading programme that inspires its managers to strive for personal excellence whilst displaying commercially astute business acumen.
Over the years The Academy has evolved, and both the content and structure are regularly reviewed to suit the individual needs of the bars and our managers. To supplement their on-site learning and development, our managers attend structured training weeks. As part of these training weeks managers take part in training sessions by day and various organised activities in our bars during the evenings. With a strong emphasis on people, the Academy week not only imparts training but also provides managers with the opportunity to network with their peers and members of the Head Office team alike.
In addition to the 3 levels of the Academy, through sales incentives and budget beating, winning General Managers can get invited to attend training overseas, most notably the Disney Institute in Florida or California and Rosen College at the University of Central Florida. This is the most exclusive part of the Academy with limited spaces.
